The accused was present in the court when the verdict was announced. The judgment of this case was announced almost six years after the incident. Â
Rangamati Women and Children Torture Suppression Tribunal Special Public Prosecutor (Special PP) Advocate Md. Saiful Islam Abhi confirmed this information and said that the court sentenced the accused to rigorous imprisonment for life and fined one lakh taka for rape. As a result of this judgment many crimes will be reduced from the society. Â
According to the source of the case, on March 21, 2018, at around 11 a.m., a 13-year-old girl in the district city was on her way home from the madrasa. Mozammel Haque called her home to cut onions and raped her after closing the door. After that, the locals arrested the rapist and handed him over to the police. On the day of the incident, the victim's mother filed a case under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act at the Rangamati Kotwali police station.
