Joypurhat: 10 persons, including father and son, were sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Tk 100,000 each, in default of payment, they were sentenced to another two years in Saidul's murder case due to a land dispute in Joypurhat. Â
On Tuesday (May 28) at noon, Additional Sessions Judge Judge Nurul Islam of the First Court of Joypurhat gave the verdict.
The convicts are Zainal Mandal, Mozammel Haque, Mofazzal Hossain, Mostafa, Mosfar Ali, Mahfuzar Rahman, Masud, Mamunur Rashid, Samsuddin and Belal Hossain. All of them are residents of Awra Kalimohar village of Kalai upazila. Other than Zainal, the accused were present in the court when the verdict was announced.
According to the details of the case, on the afternoon of July 5, 2015, in the ancestral property of Abdus Samad of Awrah village of Kalai Upazila, the accused were armed with indigenous weapons and were cutting the soil and filling their other land. When Samad's two sons Saidul and Shariful stopped them, the accused beat them with native weapons and caused bloody injuries. The locals rescued them and admitted them to the hospital. Saidul later died on July 14 while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital. Â
In this incident, the father of the victim, Samad, filed a murder case at Kalai police station as the plaintiff, and the court gave this verdict on Tuesday after the hearing
